September at InfoBooks: 12 new classics and 70 pages with better books

In September the team finished 12 Project Aldus editions, from Sun Tzu to Orwell. We also added 4 new topics and improved the free PDF books on 70 pages of the library.

September was a month of a lot of work.

The team was focused on two fronts: finishing our own editions of great classics, and improving the free PDF books that were already in the library.

Here is what we did.

The Project Aldus editions

If you don't know what it is yet, the whole story is in the Project Aldus note . In short: classics read in full, corrected and typeset again, page by page.

This month the team finished twelve, all of them free and in PDF. They run from a Chinese treatise on strategy to a fable from 1945:

A few books, done well, as we promised. This month there were twelve.

New topics

We added four topics the library did not have, each with its own collection of free books.

Greek came in twice: one page to learn it and another to read it.

Pages with better books

This is the part you don't see, and the one that took us the most time.

The team reviewed 70 pages, book by book. We replaced blurry or incomplete files with better editions, and added material that was worth having.

They are grouped by topic.

Science, math and medicine

Technology and engineering

Business

Languages and books in other languages

Mind, body and spirituality

Novels, stories and reading

History, art and culture

Home, cooking and animals

We want every book you download to be worth it.

Classic authors

The InfoBooks team also worked on the pages of three classic authors, one work at a time.

We checked which of their books we had and looked for better editions where they were needed.

A classic deserves an edition you can actually read.

What comes next

October is the month of Halloween, and we are getting ready for it.

The team is preparing Project Aldus editions made for Halloween, and we are going to improve and update the whole horror books section.

The usual schedule of classics and the review of the rest of the library keep going too.

We will tell you about it here next month.
